When we are preparing for a performance or an exam there are many things that happen to us. While our hands either get cold, or hot and they begin to shake, and our heart rate is up, we must BE confident. We must think we are going to do well and be at ease.
This reminds me of a surgeon I met. He told me that doing a performance or exam was more difficult than becoming a surgeon.
Does that help with the context of what we as performers must overcome?
What we do know is that our practicing and studying is complete. Our body responds to how we manage all these emotions. Our mind is our greatest ally to put ourselves at ease.
